Former Firnew Artist: Stephanie Mendlow

My painting is a passion, initially inspired by color.  Shaped by light, shadow, nuance; hoping to evoke in you the feelings that enrich my life.

I was inspired in the caverns of my upbringing, in Manhattan, by the skyscrapers, the museums, the speeding byways and the parks.  Art was my sanctuary.

 After a career in medicine and stimulated by dwelling in the glorious visual stimulus of rural Virginia, I have returned to my original passion.  Since the millennium, I have challenged myself to understand the media, the language of art, and how ideas are best visually expressed.  I hope my paintings can increasingly elicit from you the feelings that inspired the creation from me.
